By using PDFBandit, you agree to these terms. The software is open source under the Apache License 2.0, and these terms do not replace or restrict the rights granted by that license.
1. The service
PDFBandit is a browser-based tool for mapping PDF pages, editing content, translating text, and exporting reconstructed or selectable PDFs. The hosted version is provided as a convenience; the source code is available in the public repository.
2. Your content and responsibilities
You retain all rights to the PDFs, images, text, and other material you process with PDFBandit. You are responsible for:
- having the rights and permissions needed to use and modify the documents you open;
- reviewing translations, OCR results, and reconstructed pages before relying on them;
- keeping backups of important files;
- not using PDFBandit to infringe copyright, privacy, or other rights, or to distribute unlawful material.
3. Local processing and third-party services
PDFBandit processes documents in your browser. Some optional features contact third-party services, such as a translation endpoint or a public CDN. Your use of those services is subject to their terms and privacy policies. You are responsible for choosing providers that are appropriate for your content.
4. Acceptable use
You may not use PDFBandit to:
- process material you do not have the right to process;
- attempt to disrupt, overload, or reverse-engineer a hosted deployment in a way that harms other users;
- distribute malware or use the app as part of an unlawful service;
- misrepresent altered documents as originals created by someone else.
5. No warranty
PDFBandit is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. Translation, OCR, detection, and reconstruction can be wrong. Always review the output.
6. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the maintainers and contributors are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, or business, arising from your use of PDFBandit. This includes damage to or loss of documents, translations, or exported files.
7. Availability and changes
The hosted site may be changed, suspended, or discontinued at any time. Features may change as the project develops. We do not guarantee uptime, data retention, or compatibility with every PDF or browser.
8. Open-source license
PDFBandit is released under the Apache License, Version 2.0. You may use, modify, and distribute the source under that license. The license governs your rights to the code; these terms govern your use of the hosted service.
9. Privacy
See the Privacy Policy for how browser storage, translation providers, and third-party requests are handled.
10. Contact
